Mary Mast’s Cottage

Three generations of Mast Farm Inn owners and operators worked together between 2021 and 2023 to rejoin this cottage and associated original acreage back into The Mast Farm Inn. It was named after Mary Farthing Mast who was born in Valle Crucis in 1927 and resides here still. The Mast General Store Annex (then known as the Farthing Store) was her father’s store and she married Howard Mast whose father owned the Original Mast General Store. Mrs. Mary attended Valle Crucis Elementary and went on to teach there for 33 years. Even after retirement she continued as a substitute teacher for another 20 years. She taught our resident baker and server, Aunt Velva, and was a substitute teacher for several Mast Farm Inn team members. Mrs. Mary was an adamant advocate for the new Valle Crucis School that is currently being built adjacent to the Mast Farm Inn. We hope that we honor her dedication to the Valle and education by naming our newest addition, Mary Mast‘s Cottage. 

Mary Mast’s Cottage sleeps six, has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a private yard, private parking, field views, and is pet friendly!

Renovated in 2023, guests say it has great light and a cozy, relaxing, and private vibe.
