5 Favorites Places to Shop

Mast Farm Inn’s exquisite location is enhanced by its short 15 minute drive to downtown Boone, King Street,  the heart and home of Appalachian State University and locals who have called this town home for generations.

Here’s our Top Five Favorite Places to Shop in Downtown Boone

1. Common Good

Walking into Common Good is like walking into sunshine. In what used to be a bridal shop, Jacob Daniels created a space that combines fine art with practical beauty. On the first floor is a variety of house wares, prints, curated clothing, bath and body products, and the best candles we’ve ever known. Each item is hand-crafted by small artisans in the regional area. Upstairs is an art gallery where you can wonder in amazement at Jacob’s creations or applaud the visiting artists he has selected for the season. How will you find Common Good? By the gorgeous window displays that are always worth gawking at.

2. Doe Ridge Pottery

Bob meier has been making pottery for most of his life and it shows at his gallery, however, Bob is happy to share the stage with his colleague Nate and other regional pottery artists. In this subterranean gallery, you’ll find mugs, bowls, plates, and all things clay. No two pieces are the same but we always find shades of blues and greens we’ve never seen before. How much do we love Bob and Nate? So much that we commissioned him to make Mast Farm Inn mugs that are also available in our gift shop. Stop by and tell them we sent you.

3. Mountaineer Mania

So, we might be biased on this one but we’ll blush while we tell you. Mountaineer Mania has been selling App State tees and souvenirs since 1981 and our very own innkeeper, Melody, is both a former employee and current owner of Mountaineer Mania. At the end of King Street, you’ll find her shop filled with Boone memorabilia, stylish apparel to celebrate App State, and unique designs not available elsewhere. Plus check out the polaroid board that highlights alumni and current students – get your photo put up too!

4. Lililu on King

Libby is a pretty stylish gal and we will wear anything she tells us to. From the classy coats to sassy tops to glamorous earrings, Libby’s tastes are flawless. Between the sales rack and the new arrivals, we never leave empty handed. Don’t wait until later to grab that cozy sweater or new boots because she keeps the store’s inventory moving with long-lasting, high quality, women’s clothing. If Libby says it looks good, trust her, then come show us what you got.

5. Appalachian Antique Mall

Leave plenty of time for this three story antique extravaganza. Whether you’re looking for something specific or just browsing you’re bound to find something unique. Their powerful collection of antique books, clothing, rugs, kitchenware, windows, furniture, and jewelry will leave you in a time warp! In fact, we’ve sourced some of our period pieces from this very store. Enjoy the creaky floors and shelves bursting with collectibles then come on back to rest at the Mast Farm Inn.
